It’s good to know I have a friend
Who loves me as I am
imperfect ignorant in my ways
I do the best I can

when circumstances get me down
I want to run away
to find a place of solitude
a place where I can pray

this friend is Jesus whom I love
He knows me oh so well
He has never once let me down
there’s nothing I can’t tell

a friend like this is great comfort
what loving devotion
with intimate knowledge of me
He feels my emotion

as days do pass into the weeks
and months into the years
I find this fellowship so new
a freshness that endears

all emotions that can be felt
through flesh of man within
have been experienced by the Lord
and yet all without sin

praise God I have a friend like this
Who shows me what to do
a perfect pattern for my life
and love we share that’s true
